Recommended points

[1] All-you-can-eat Sato Nishiki
What is Sato Nishiki? Sato Nishiki, known nationwide as a representative cherry variety, was named with the meaning of "sweet as sugar."

[2] Shirakawa River Source
Located in Minamiaso Village, Kumamoto Prefecture, Shirakawa Springs is a famous spot boasting a flow rate of approximately 60 tons per minute, and was selected as one of the Ministry of the Environment's "100 Famous Waters." The water, filtered through Aso's volcanic ash soil, is crystal clear, and cool water of 14°C springs up all year round. There is a drinking fountain where you can freely draw water, and Shirakawa Yoshimi Shrine, which enshrines the water god, making it a relaxing spot that you can easily drop by.

[3] Kusasenrigahama
One of Mount Aso's most famous tourist spots. Located at an altitude of approximately 1,100m, it is a great location from which to view the leisurely grazing horses and the dramatic crater of Mount Aso-Nakadake, spewing smoke.

[4] Kuju Flower Park
Kuju Flower Park is one of the largest botanical parks in western Japan, located in the Kuju Plateau in Taketa City, Oita Prefecture. With the Aso-Kuju mountain range as its backdrop, it is a spectacular spot where approximately 5 million flowers of 500 different species bloom from spring to autumn. The vast grounds are also home to a cafe and a variety of hands-on workshops.

Kuju Flower Park Lavender blooming period (usually): late June to early July
